マーク先生の龍野の秋レポート
Autumn pictures of Tatsuno
龍野の秋より
One Monday morning in November I woke up at 5am. Why would I
do such a horrible thing? Well, I wanted to go and take some pictures
of the maple leaves at Tatsuno Shrine and the Maple Valley next to it.
The previous weekend had been the festival there with hundreds of
people walking around the beautiful trees, but I felt the best way to
get some great pictures was to be there as the sun was rising – and alone.

I arrived there at about 6am and was truly there by myself. There were
a few birds singing in the trees but they were my only company. After a
little while some elderly people also came through the forest – walking
their dogs or just enjoying the clean, fresh air. I think they were a little
amused at this huge foreigner taking photos!

At about 6:30am the sun rose and the light was just lovely. It kissed the
leaves – turning them into bright shades of yellow and red. They seemed
to shine from within. I was able to get some really great shots.

By 7am the sun was up in the sky and the golden light had faded. I made
my way home just as everyone else was either on their way to work or to
school. It felt a bit strange to be going home at this time, but after a short
nap I was ready to face the rest of the day and to look at the fruits of my
hard work.

It’s great living in a small town where there is so much beauty just a short
walk, ride or drive away. You really should go for a look sometime.
