Today I went to the Himeji Sweets Festival in the morning.

It was a lovely day with a warm, gentle breeze blowing

through the trees and the temperature just perfect for

standing in lines.  “Standing in lines” you say?   Why, yes,

since like most festivals in Japan, it was VERY popular and

that means having to wait a long time to see anything!

I managed to get into the ‘Theme Pavilion’ to see some

of the artistic confectionary on display, but it took just

over two hours to get inside!  It was worth the wait though,

since the detail on some of the pieces was amazing.  You

had to keep reminding yourself that every feather, every

petal, every tiny detail was made of sugar!  The scale model

of the Japanese castle was incredible as well.  I hope you can

visit if you have the chance, but a word of advice: get there

early and be prepared to wait!
