Northwood English Communication Academy is located in Tatsuno, a medium sized city in the south-western part of Hyogo Prefecture which have developed around its own castle. We have been dedicated to the English education in the local community for 45 years and want our teachers to become part of the community. We are extremely concerned with actual learning and use unique and lively approaches to accomplish this. Although we have adult students, our main students are children and teenagers, ages 4 - 18.

Job

Full-time, 5 days/week, Tue-Sat., 22 teaching hours and 18 office working hours per week, which makes 40 hours/week(=8 hrs./day x 5 days). Teaching oral communication, listening, reading and some writing to children and students as well as adults, and material/curriculum development. Active involvement in a few annual events, such as speech contest and kids day picnic, is required. Training will be provided.

Job Requirements

BA, native speaker, computer literacy, driver's license and some experience in teaching English required. Teaching certification preferred. We are looking for teachers who are professional-minded and really serious in teaching, and who truly loves working with children and living in a small city. Applicants must reside in Japan and be able to come to our school for interview and demonstration.

Benefits

Starting salary will be 270,000 yen. To be raised twice, 5,000 yen each time, within the first six months depending upon performance. We will sponsor or renew visa. Furnished apartment is provided. Key money is paid by us. All you have to do is to pay the monthly rent and utilities. About 5 weeks paid holidays, contribution bonus, commutation allowance, free use of car is provided. (We share 50/50 car insurance and car inspection charge. You have to pay gas yourself.) Half of the Japanese National Health Insurance premium is covered by the school.

Position

The position officially starts in March, 2026. However, the successful applicant is required to come to school 2-4 weeks earlier for training. We want teachers to enjoy teaching and working for us for a long time, preferably for more than two years, and at the same time enjoy mingling with people in the community.
